Landscape Construction Crew Leader
This position reports to: Superintendent and/or Production Manager.
Position Summary: With the guidance of the Superintendent and/or Production Manager, the Crew Leader oversees the efficient operation and installation of landscape designs while operating within the budget guidelines (estimated hours and materials). The Crew Leader works in cooperation with Landscape Design Dept., Estimator, Purchaser, Facility and Nursery Manager, with quality customer satisfaction as top priority.
Position Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Construction and/or at least 3-5 years experience as a Crew Leader preferred. Must have basic knowledge of plant and landscape materials. Have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive large trucks. Candidate must have the ability to operate medium duty equipment such as skid-steer loaders, trenchers, backhoes, and all landscape equipment.
Accountability: Responsible for installing plant material and landscape material in a professional manner according to PLG standard operating procedures. Provide work direction for Crew Laborers. Responsible for vehicle operation, equipment operation and adherence to PLG established safety procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
- Train and manage all personnel assigned to your crew.
- Ability to manage and delegate responsibility
- Coordinate & prioritize daily work schedule with your production manager.
- Obtain pertinent paperwork and job files prior to starting any new jobs.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Complete all daily paperwork i.e. timesheets, T&M tickets, field reports, accident reports and any other applicable paperwork by the end of each days work.
- Maintain tool inventory and coordinate equipment damage with Production Manager. (Tools will not be replaced at company cost without broken tool being turned in)
- Maintain all equipment assigned to your crew, which includes greasing, cleaning, fluid checks, blade sharpening and monitoring preventative maintenance needs.
- Maintain the appearance of all company equipment and job site in a clean and organized manner.
- Conduct all safety tailgate meetings as prescribed by the safety director.
- Oversee daily job site quality control.
- Prepare and plan the next day’s work.
- Ensure trucks and equipment are fueled, loaded and ready for the next days work prior to leaving at the end of the day.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients.
- Assist Sales Representatives and Managers with up selling.
- Enforce and support all company policies and procedures at all times.
- Complete any additional duties or assignments as directed by Division or Corporate Managers.
